Jill Rowley is a native of Iowa and began her violin studies in Des Moines at the age of nine with Drake University violin professor, Dr. Wilfred Biel. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, having earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in violin performance under the tutelage of Angel Reyes and Jacob Krachmalnick.
Upon graduating, she performed as a chamber music recitalist in the Midwest before adventuring to Mexico to play in the Veracruz Symphony Orchestra, the State of Mexico Orchestra (Toluca) and the Mexico City Philharmonic.
After leaving Mexico, Jill became concertmaster of the first international tour of Show Boat presented by the New York Harlem Opera Ensemble. She toured fourteen countries throughout Europe for nearly nine months presenting over 203 productions.
Following the completion of the tour, Jill came to Boise in 1985 to join the Boise Philharmonic and to perform with the Boise Philharmonic String Quartet. She currently performs as Associate Concertmaster of the Boise Philharmonic and as first violinist in the Boise Philharmonic String Quartet. She has also performed with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, the Cascade Summer Symphony (Bend, Oregon), Music From Bear Valley festival (Bear Valley, California), and as Concertmaster for Boise State University’s Summerfest.
Jill has appeared as soloist with the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra, the Ann Arbor Chamber Orchestra, the Jackson Symphony (Michigan), the McCall Chamber Orchestra, the Treasure Valley Youth Symphony, the Boise High School Chamber Orchestra, the Meridian Symphony and the Boise Philharmonic.
In addition to her performing schedule, Jill maintains a private teaching studio.
