Ned Johnson has been Principal Cellist of the Boise Philharmonic for 23 years. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in music and from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a Master’s degree in cello performance. He has served as soloist for the Boise Philharmonic, the Utah Symphony, and the Reno Chamber Orchestra, taught on the faculty of Boise State University, and appeared in a variety of university settings for recitals and master classes. In its early years, Ned was the music director and conductor of the Treasure Valley Youth Symphony. He also maintained a private teaching studio and played as principal cellist in the Ashlawn Highland Opera Orchestra in Charlottesville, Virginia. He currently performs with the Boise Philharmonic String Quartet in regular concerts and in area schools for childhood music development programs.
