Mariusz Smolij is considered one of the most exciting conductors of his generation. He has led over 80 orchestras on four continents; appearing in some of the most prestigious concert halls of the world. Maestro Smolij is currently in his fourth season as Music Director of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra in Lafayette, Louisiana and his eleventh season as Music Director of the Riverside Symphonia in New Jersey.
In Europe, Maestro Smolij has been closely associated with one of Eastern Europe’s most renowned orchestras, the Wroclaw (Breslau) Philharmonic in Poland. He is credited with restructuring the orchestra’s operations and its artistic season; introducing innovative artistic concepts as well as new repertoire.
Born near Katowice, Poland, Maestro Smolij is an accomplished violinist and the founder of the internationally recognized Penderecki String Quartet. After studying in Europe, he continued his education in the US, earning a doctorate degree from the Eastman School of Music.

Violinist Timothy Fain has been selected as one of Symphony magazine’s “Up-and-Coming” young musicians. Endowed with a wide range of talents and interests, he performs as soloist, chamber musician, and in creative collaborations with other artists. Mr. Fain recently made his film debut on the soundtrack Bee Season, in which he is the voice of Richard Gere’s violin.
As a soloist, Mr. Fain has performed with the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, the Florida West Coast Symphony, the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, and the Albany Symphony. His global performances include the Mexico City Philharmonic, the Spoleto Festival in Italy, the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
A native of Santa Monica, California, Timothy Fain attended the R.D. Colburn School of
Performing Arts and the Crossroads School. He received his bachelor’s degree from the
Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and a Master Degree in Music from The Juilliard School. He currently lives in New York City.
